Generations Ahead Scholarship Dependents

The Division of Human Resources is pleased to inform you of enhancements to our “Generations Ahead” Scholarship Program – generously sponsored by the Gabor Agency, Inc. This scholarship is designed for dependents (son/daughter) of FIU’s benefits-eligible faculty and staff.

This opportunity is another way to demonstrate appreciation for our valued faculty and staff who support and serve our 56,000 students. As a result of your continued commitment to create positive experiences for our students, the Division of Human Resources is dedicated to creating positive experiences and opportunities for you.

Eligible scholarship recipients must:
A. be a dependent son/daughter of an FIU, full-time, benefits-eligible faculty or staff member.
B. be currently enrolled as a degree-seeking, full-time student at FIU, taking a minimum of 12 credits as an undergraduate or 9 credits as a graduate student.
C. have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 or better as an undergraduate or 3.0 as a graduate.
D. have completed and submitted the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2019-20.

Special Note: (The Generations Ahead Scholarship is limited to one award per family (even if both parents are employed at FIU).

Students wishing to compete for one of the Generations Ahead Scholarships are expected to:

  • Submit a 500 word essay. “Describe something that has inspired you in the past year to make a difference in your community and how it relates to your academic pursuits.”
  • Provide two (2) letters of recommendation from either faculty members and/or academic advisors.

Award amounts for Spring 2020:
$2,000 for Undergraduates
$3,000 for Graduates
