Jorge M. Pérez and Darlene Pérez 50th Anniversary Nursing Scholarship

The Jorge M. Pérezand Darlene Boytell-Pérez Nursing Scholarship was established to help nursing students pay tuition and related educational expenses. It will provide scholarships of up to four years for full-time nursing students who demonstrate outstanding scholastic aptitude and accomplishment and financial need, especially those expressing a desire to stay in the South Florida community after graduation. Contingent on available funds annually.

Criteria:

• The scholarship will be awarded to full-time degree-seeking undergraduate and/or graduate nursing students students enrolled in or accepted for admission to the college who demonstrate outstanding scholastic aptitude and accomplishments, as well as financial need.
• Recipients must have a GPA of 3.5 and must maintain this minimum GPA to continue to receive this scholarship for up to four years of eligible enrollment in their nursing program.
• Recipients must submit an essay of no more than 1000 words about the following:
  a. Tell us about a time you exhibited leadership and produced lasting value.
  b. How do you envision improving patient care and improve health care outcomes for patients?
  c. How will this scholarship support your goals of pursing a nursing degree?
• Recipients will be asked at the end of each academic year to prepare a paragraph explaining their future leadership potential and updating the Donor as to how the scholarship is helping the recipient achieve his or her goals.
• Preference will be given to those with a desire to stay in the South Florida community upon graduation.
• Students must be a citizen of the United States, a U.S. lawful permanent resident or an international student on an aid eligible visa to be awarded scholarships.
