Florida Heart Undergraduate Research Fellowship
This undergraduate research fellowship is a training program for junior level undergraduate students majoring in STEM and STEM-adjacent majors. The program is designed to increase the number of individuals engaged in research by preparing students for high-caliber graduate training at the Ph.D. Level. Selected fellows attend weekly meetings and professional development workshops each semester. Students spend their junior and senior years in the program conducting research at FIU. Florida Heart Undergraduate Research Fellowship is funded by the Florida Heart Research Foundation.
Qualifications:
• Rising juniors (current sophomores – an expected graduation date of Spring 2028.)
• GPA 3.3 or above
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• Enrolled full time (12 credits minimum each semester excluding summer)
• Majoring in STEM/STEM-adjacent
Accepted fellows receive:
1. $1000 Monthly research stipend ($12,000/year)
2. $1000 Travel Award to present their research annually
3. $1000 in lab supply funding for their project
Fellows participate in weekly fellowship meetings that include professional and personal development workshops
