About Dr. Fareed Haj
Dr. Haj was known for his huge heart and was an example of service to family and the community. As a small child in Palestine, Dr. Haj contracted trachoma, caused by a bacterium that attacks the eyes, which left him blind. Throughout his life he developed an affinity for helping others like himself. As a young man, Dr. Haj won a scholarship to study in New York. This scholarship aims to honor Dr. Haj’s lifelong journey and to provide a chance at a successful life for others by opening the door to Higher Education.
