Jane O. McQuire Scholarship

Award during Fall 2025 & Spring 2026

Ms. Carrie Otto created this scholarship in honor of her mother, Jane O’ McQuire, a Miami-Dade County Public School teacher for over 17 years.  Jane’s lifelong dedication to enhancing opportunities for underprivileged areas inspired the “magnet” gifted program at Naranja Elementary School in Homestead.  This scholarship is for students with an interest in special education and/or gifted students.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

Must be enrolled as a full-time, degree-seeking student (12 credits undergraduate / 9 credits graduate) in Education; Special Education/Gifted major; GPA 3.0 or above; U.S. citizens or permanent resident; Demonstrated financial need based on federal financial aid standards as determined by the University’s Financial Aid Office; Personal statement (500-1,000 words) regarding personal career goals as they relate to Special Education and the Urban environment.

Must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credits) for both Fall 2025 & Spring 2026
•Students must be U.S Citizens, Permanent Resident, or International student on F1 visa to be aid eligible
