YOUNG HISPANIC LEADER SCHOLARSHIP
Barrios Virgüez’s Young Hispanic Leader Scholarship offers $2,500 in financial assistance to students anticipating or returning to college. This scholarship celebrates students’ successful development of leadership skills alongside their academic success.
Students submitting their scholarship applications for consideration are encouraged to elaborate on the challenges that their time in a leadership position foisted upon them. Barrios Virgüez wants to uphold the efforts of a student who had their abilities, perspective, and/or perseverance challenged while in the service of others.
Applicants must be enrolled in or accepted at an accredited college, university, or graduate school in the United States and fit the following criteria:
- Submit a 1,000 to 1,500-word essay sharing a chapter of their life in which they took on a leadership role (as a basketball captain, volunteering leader, dance group leader, etc.)
- Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Submit the necessary application materials, including an unofficial transcript, and some proof of enrollment or acceptance to college/university/graduate school
