SGA DC scholarship
The FIU in DC Internship Support Scholarship is designed to assist students and recent graduates who are actively pursuing or have secured an internship in Washington, D.C. This scholarship provides financial support and access to a dynamic, cohort-based learning and professional development program.
As part of the FIU in DC initiative, recipients of this scholarship will engage in a unique opportunity to enhance their internship experience through guided mentorship, tailored workshops, and networking events. Students will develop key professional skills, gain valuable insights into the federal government and public policy landscape, and connect with FIU alumni and leaders in their field.
The scholarship aims to empower participants to make the most of their time in Washington, D.C., by fostering both personal and professional growth. All students and recent graduates who have secured an internship in D.C. are eligible to apply, with preference given to those committed to creating meaningful impact in public service, policy, and related fields.
This scholarship is more than just financial support; it’s a pathway to building lasting professional connections, gaining real-world experience, and advancing your career in the heart of U.S. government and policy-making.
Eligibility:
- Degree seeking student enrolled at the university. Minimum undergraduate 3.0 GPA
- Preference will be given to students majoring in a STEM major
- Preference will be given to Ruth Hamilton Scholars that have been selected by the FIU in DC office.
- Must be enrolled full-time during the term you are applying to receive the award.
- Must include one (1) letter of recommendation on professional letterhead. Letter MUST be from a teacher, professor, academic counselor or advisor who can attest to student’s academic potential, leadership qualities, and/or community service
- Must be in good Judicial standing at the University
- Scholarship will be awarded for either fall or spring semester depending on the students enrollment when in Washington DC.
