Sarah R. Gaylord First Generation Scholarship

The scholarship is open to an Honors College student who will be the first generation college graduate in their family. The scholarship may be renewed each year provided that the recipient remains a degree-seeking Honors College student, enrolls in a minimum of six credit hours per semester (Fall and Spring). To be eligible, the student must be either an entering or current Honors College student in good standing (minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA) and must have financial need; must be a citizen of the United States, a U.S. lawful permanent resident. The award funding varies and if funding permits that year.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Entering or current Honors College student in good standing (min. 3.3 GPA);
  • In the first generation of their family to complete a college degree (students whose siblings have attained or are pursuing a degree are eligible);
  • Resident of the state of Florida;
  • Must be enrolled for a minimum of six credit hours per semester;
  • Demonstrated financial need by completing the national Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and be eligible for a Pell Grant.
