John F. Stack, Jr. First Generation Scholarship

The John F. Stack, Jr. First Generation Scholarship Fund was established in 2021 in honor of the Founding Dean of the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs. The annual scholarship(s) distributed using proceeds from this endowment supports First generation students within the school. With the desire to create a namesake legacy for Stack for years to come, his friends and colleagues established and funded this initiative celebrating his many accomplishments and contributions in his over four decades at FIU.

Eligibility Requirements
i. Recipients must be the first generation in their family to attain a college degree (students whose siblings have attained or are pursuing a degree are eligible).
ii. Recipients must be residents of the state of Florida.
iii. Recipients must be degree-seeking undergraduate students enrolled for a minimum of six credit hours per semester.
iv. Recipients must demonstrate financial need by completing the national Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and be eligible for a Pell Grant.
Additional Criteria
v. Recipients must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher.
vi. Recipients must be enrolled in a program under the School of International and Public Affairs.
vii. Essay will be submitted based on the following prompt-Write a 250-word essay on how your degree at FIU will help you advance understanding, prosperity, peace and security in the world.
