Hospitality First Year Student Scholarship

THIS SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY IS FOR FIRST TIME FRESHMAN STARTING IN SPRING 2025. One (1) award is available during this period. If you were admitted or started in a previous semester, you are not eligible. If you are starting in a future semester, please wait until the scholarship application for your start date opens.

-In compliance with applicable laws regarding financial aid eligibility, those receiving the award must have an aid-eligible immigration/residency status. International students are eligible to apply.

We are pleased to offer one (1) $2,000 award ($1,000 each in Spring 2025 & Fall 2025) for first-year students majoring in any program in the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management.

Student Eligibility requirements:
• Student must have been accepted to FIU in the Hospitality Management program, including
o Beverage Management
o Event & Entertainment Management
o Food Innovations & Entrepreneurship
o Global Sustainable Tourism
o Hospitality Leadership
o Hospitality Management (no specific major)
o Hotel/Lodging Management
o Restaurant/Culinary Management
o Spirits Management
o Travel & Tourism Management
• Minimum high school GPA of at least 3.5
• Student must be a first-time freshman starting at FIU in Spring 2025 and enrolled full-time for at least 12 credits each semester (excluding Summer)

To apply, students should submit:
• Student must write a 1 – 2 page essay discussing “Why you have chosen Hospitality and Tourism as a Career”
• Letter of Recommendation from your Teacher or College Advisor
• Resume including:
o Previous awards and honors
o Describe your service to your school and community throughout your time in high school.
