Dr Alan Emamdee Scholarship for Medical Students

The Dr. Alan Emamdee Scholarship is an annual $1,000 award granted to one exemplary medical student pursuing a career in psychiatry. Established in honor of Dr. Emamdee’s impactful career, the scholarship supports students who share his dedication to compassionate, culturally-competent mental healthcare. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited MD or DO program in the United States and submit an essay explaining their interest in psychiatry, how they hope to serve vulnerable populations, and why they embody the values that defined Dr. Emamdee’s work. One student is selected each year based on academic achievement, commitment to community engagement, embodiment of empathy and inclusiveness, and alignment with Dr. Emamdee’s mission to bridge cultural divides through patient-centered psychiatric care. By alleviating financial burden, the Dr. Alan Emamdee Scholarship aims to inspire and enable the next generation of passionate, socially-conscious psychiatric providers.

To be eligible for the Dr. Alan Emamdee Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited MD or DO program in the United States
  • Demonstrate academic excellence with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Exhibit commitment to community service and mental healthcare advocacy
  • Share Dr. Emamdee’s passion for serving vulnerable and underserved populations
  • Embody the values of empathy, inclusiveness, and cultural awareness
  • Intend to pursue psychiatry as a medical specialty
