Green School Merit Scholarship for Graduate Students

The Merit Scholarship for Graduate Students was created to benefit students in the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs. These merit scholarships are awarded for outstanding academic ability as demonstrated by GPA, an essay, or other achievements. Each year, the scholarship fund awards $1,000 to a graduate student.

Eligibility -
The scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled at FIU who is seeking a graduate degree in the Green School. Recipients must:
• Be a citizen of the United States, a U.S. lawful permanent resident, or an international student in receipt of the F-1 visa to study in the United States
• Have successfully completed a minimum of 12 graduate credits
• Be in good academic standing (minimum 3.5 GPA)
• Not currently have a graduate, teaching, or research assistantship
• Not previously have been awarded the Green School’s Merit Scholarship for Graduate Students

Application –
The applicant must:
• Complete an online application on AcademicWorks
• Submit a résumé/curriculum vita
• Submit either an essay (typed, double-spaced, 12-point font) of no more than 750 words or a 3-minute video describing the reasons which led them to pursue a degree in the Green School, their progress to date, and their professional/academic aspirations.

Award Amount –
$1,000 for the forthcoming academic year to be used and disbursed as $500, each, for the Fall and Spring semesters. The funds received in the Spring term are dependent upon the student’s ability to remain eligible.

Notification –
Winners will be notified by June 30th and will be recognized during the annual Green School awards ceremony.
