SCJ Minority Recruiting Scholarship

Scholarship Awarded for 2020-2021
Award amount $500.00(Fall 2020 $250.00 & Spring 2021 $250.00)

Scholarship Criteria:

You must be enrolled full-time (12 credits undergraduate and 9 credits graduate) during the Fall and Spring semesters.
You must maintain a minimum semester GPA of 3.0 (including this current semester), as well as maintain a cumulative FIU GPA of at least a 3.0 at all times.
You must continue to pursue a major within the School of Communication + Journalism (SCJ) during the award period.
The award will be dispersed to you in two equal installments after enrollment has concluded each semester— half Fall and half Spring —provided you still meet the requisites.

Must Submit the Following:
1. Please submit an essay which discusses the reasons for your chosen profession; and where you see yourself in the future? Must be a minimum of 2 pages, double spaced.
2. All applicants must submit a writing sample (school newspaper story, class paper or equivalent).
3. Please submit scans of all transcripts from institutions in which you have taken courses, including FIU (official or unofficial from school’s web page).
4. Please submit a copy of current Panther Degree Audit (PDA for FIU students). All documents should be submitted as PDF.
5. Please submit a letter of recommendation from a faculty member (SCJ faculty preferred).
