National Save the Sea Turtle Foundation Scholarship for Upper Division Marine Science Undergraduates

This scholarship, funded by the National Save the Sea Turtle Foundation, will fund three $10,000 scholarships for upper division marine science undergraduate students conducting marine science research that is directly related to sea turtle conservation.

To qualify for the scholarship students must be either juniors or seniors majoring in Marine Biology, Biology, Chemistry, or in a program under the Department of Earth and Environment.

The funds are to be used to fund the purchase of equipment, materials, and supplies that are directly related to the student’s research project. Leftover funds may also be used to fund student tuition at a rate of $205.57 per credit hour for Florida residents and $618.87 per credit hour for non-residents. The funds may NOT be used for travel expenses or student stipends.

Please keep in mind that the following criteria will be used to rank the scholarship applications:

  • The personal statement must indicate
    • A clear plan explaining career goals and aspirations
    • A clear description of how this support will help the student achieve the above goals and aspirations
    • Clear description of research interests
  • Strength of support in the letters of recommendation
  • Financial need
