Jan L.Tucker Scholarship

Award for 2022-2023

Professor Jan L. Tucker was among the first global educators in the United States to bring public awareness to the importance of integrating a global awareness into curriculum and instruction in public schools and universities on the national and international levels in order to prepare the youth of nations for a rapidly changing increasingly interdependent world. On the local level, Dr. Tucker was instrumental in implementing global education programs in Miami’s public schools and in the social studies teacher education program at Florida International University. In memory of her late husband, Dr. Toni Fuss Kirkwood-Tucker and friends have created a permanent endowment to provide annual scholarships to students in education who will teach from a global perspective in their profession.
